We have a blog!
This small DIY catification project in the picture was an IKEA hack, which I made in 2014. I had been searching for nice-looking cat beds for ages, but did not come across any that would not look, well, horrible.
Knowing how cats love baskets, this TRENDIG 2013 tray table caught my attention in the IKEA catalogue back then. I decided to give it a go, just made comfy cushions to it and put it to the corner for the cats to test it. And they loved it.
After the cats had clearly approved their new furniture, I decided to share this hack in Pinterest. I’ve been amazed and really really glad of how popular it has become! Having said this, all of you who have pinned it, either directly from my account, or from other Pinterest collections, or shared it from blogs– a big and humble thank you!
This hack has really stand the test of time, as you can see from the other picture 🙂 I have only changed the cushion fabric into heavy-weight Marimekko cotton, which is easy to clean and wash, if necessary.
Unfortunately the original tray table was just a seasonal item in IKEA. In this blog, I hope to be able to share some other useful and inspiring ideas and tips for finding, or making, products that will make your cat happy, and look nice at the same time.
Great to have you here – hope you will find this blog useful!
P.S. If you wondered what “the Moomincats” stands for, it comes from the names of these two. Their names are based on the Moomins characters; created by Finnish author and artist Tove Jansson. The Moomin stories are loved by generations of Finns, and living in Finland, they were a great source for cat naming ideas 🙂
